Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar examined the proposal through site visits to Hebbal, BEL Road, Summanahalli and Goraguntepalya junction on Thursday.
The western stretch of the outer ring road between JP Nagar to Hebbal flyover will feature a road-cum-metro corridor similar to the double-decker project on Ragigudda-Silk Board stretch in south Bengaluru. The planned Bengaluru longest flyover 2025 will run for a distance of 32.15 km making it Bengaluru's longest flyover.
The planned 8 km elevated road component on Magadi Road requires an estimated investment of Rs 9,800 crore. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar visited Hebbal as well as BEL Road, Summanahalli and Goraguntepalya junction to review the proposal on Thursday.
All future Metro projects will include the construction of Bangalore elevated corridor project. The design of the new infrastructure will follow the established standards seen in Ragigudda Bengaluru road development 2025. The plan to demolish properties to expand roads will generate substantial acquisition expenses according to the Bengaluru development minister.
The project team confirmed that double-decker trains will run on both lines of Namma Metro's third phase, which consists of more than 40 km of track while noting that the feasibility study stands at 90% completion. The requirement to build JP Nagar elevated road using the same pillars as the Metro has caused delays in tendering the civil works although the Centre approved the project in August last year.
The deputy chief minister stated that planners are designing the project with a 30-40 year timeframe in mind.
The 32.15-km line between JP Nagar 4th Phase and Kempapura belonging to Namma Metro's Phase III project will have major changes at Goraguntepalya to implement the double-decker proposal.
The newly proposed interchange station will connect to both Peenya and Goraguntepalya stations through separate travelators despite its design to cut Bangalore flyover construction costs and shorten the corridor by 300 metres.
The new design will create a signal-free corridor for vehicles between Dr Rajkumar Memorial and BEL Circle which will ease Bengaluru traffic decongestion at Goraguntepalya even though Metro passengers will experience some inconvenience.
